'12 Monkeys' Season 3 Trailer Visits the Far Future of 2163

Syfy’s 12 Monkeys may not have made the trip to participate in New York Comic-Con, but that isn’t stopping the fan-favorite time-travel drama from laying ground for its third year. Following that wild Season 2 cliffhanger, our first look at 12 Monkeys Season 3 takes us all the way to 2163, as the Witness’ cry is heard.

Stay with us here, and be warned of Season 2 spoilers, but the prior 12 Monkeys finale saw Cassie (Amanda Schull) kidnapped by the titular Army of the 12 Monkeys and taken to 2163, wherein she learned the mysterious “Witness” identity as that of the unborn child between her and Cole (Aaron Stanford). The first official Season 3 trailer doesn’t offer much in the way of fresh footage, but definitely paints a grim portrait of the future.

Says executive producer Terry Matalas (via EW):

In Season 3, the stakes have never been more personal for our time travelers. The adventure will take them to their own future as well as further back in time than they’ve ever been before. They’ll face their darkest hour — an all-new threat with deeply emotional consequences for heroes and villains alike.
