Country music artists have always been known for their charitable efforts, and now three of the genre’s elite are being recognized with nominations for 2012 VH1 Do Something! Awards. Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton will compete for their respective trophies, which are awarded to artists who blaze the trail for community service and involvement.

Swift is up for the Music Artist and Facebook honors, joining Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, Shakira, Will.i.am, and One Direction in the philanthropic musical category. The country superstar is an avid supporter of the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity, and has donated a not-s0-small fortune in the name of goodwill, including a $4 million donation to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for music education. Swift also raised a staggering $750K with her Speak Now… Help Now event last spring after a string of tornadoes ravaged the southeastern United States.

The ‘Ours’ singer also nabbed a nomination in the Facebook category as a leading lady of the social media platform. Swift used her official Facebook page to respond to a prom request from Kevin McGuire, a young leukemia patient. The singer declined his invitation due to a schedule conflict, but offered to take McGuire to the Academy of Country Music Awards instead. Swift’s outreach garnered 10ok “Likes” from her 33 million Facebook fans.

Country music’s reigning CMA Male and Female Vocalist of the Year will compete in the Couple category, with Shelton and Lambert earning recognition for their joint fundraiser, which raised $70k for a veteran’s program and an animal shelter in Tishomingo, Okla. The two superstars also performed multiple charity concerts in the name of tornado relief last year. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi, Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon round out the star-studded category.

Hosted by ‘New Girl’ stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris, the fan-voted 2012 VH1 Do Something! Awards will be taped Aug. 19 and aired on the cable network on Aug. 21 at 9PM ET. Click here to vote!
