Taylor Swift has been nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards, including the 'Video of the Year' honor. For those of us not familiar with the MTV VMA's, the 'Video of the Year' award is "The Big One" that artists covets. That, and the 'Female Video of the Year' nomination are both for Taylor's hit 'I Knew You Were Trouble'.

Normally, Taylor being nominated for awards isn't such a big deal. It happens all the time. But VMA's are just a little more intriguing since the 2009 Awards show, where Kanye West infamously lost it, and went on a tirade in the middle of Swift's Female Video of the Year acceptance speech. The superstar alluded to the incident when she posted the nomination announcement on her Facebook page, stating "Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time.". Well played.

Kanye didn't get nominated for any MTV Video Music Awards this year, so it's doubtful that Mr. Kim Kardashian will even be in attendance, much less in a position to act the fool on stage.

Taylor will be up against Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Robin Thicke for 'Video of the Year'. Her Female VOY competition includes Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Pink and Demi Lovato.

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards will be held August 25th in Brooklyn, NY.
