A 3-year-old in Piedmont, Oklahoma is in trouble with the law, after a local law enforcement officer caught the young man taking a whiz in his own front yard. And while a grown man handing out public-urination citations to a little boy in pull-up diapers might sound funny, the boy’s mother says the thousands of dollars in fines is no laughing matter.

Ashley Warden says her son, Dillan, who is currently being toilet-trained, was accosted by police outside their home earlier last week when the boy made the decision to urinate in the front yard rather than wet his diaper. However, the officer was so quick to react to the situation that the boy did not actually get to relieve himself.

"Dillan pulled down his pants to pee outside," said Warden. "The cop pulled up and asked for my license and told me he was going to give me a ticket for public urination."

The officer gave her a ticket all right—one that is going to cost her $2,500. "I said really? He is three years old, and he said it doesn't matter," said Dillan's grandmother, Jennifer Warden. "[He said] it is public urination. I said we are on our property, and he said it's in public view."

The Warden family plans to fight the ticket in court because they say little Dillan did not actually urinate anywhere. The family also insists that the officer responsible for issuing them the citation has been harassing them for some time.
