As the year comes to a close, I always like to reflect on the year in music. This is a best of the best list, this is the 'cream that rose to the top'. Will names like Strait or Chesney make it on this list? I'm not wasting anymore time, let's count down the top 10 songs of 2012. Early on, the Eli Young Band put Music City and the world on notice, they were here to stay. These guys worked so hard that they deserve a spot in this years Top 10. The song that got them to my #9 spot is 'Even If It Breaks Your Heart.'

The song 'Even If It Breaks Your Heart' was originally written by Will Hoge and Eric Paslay in 2009, but the Eli Young Band (EYB) took the song to #1 on Billboards Hot 100. It was released as a single officially in January of 2012 and was the sixth song for the EYB, and the second from their album Life at Best.

The Eli Young Band met and formed as a band while they were still students at the University of North Texas in Denton. Mike Eli and James Young became roommates during their freshman year. They played guitar and sang together. That's when they formed the acoustic duo, Eli & Young. Since then, other members were added and they became the Eli Young Band.
