Gritty fairy tale re-imaginings for everyone! With 'Once Upon A Time' due to begin its third season in the coming weeks, spinning off into 'Once Upon A Time in Wonderland' shortly thereafter, ABC has put its stock in developing limited series 'Esmeralda,' a re-imagining of the classic 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' tale in the vain of Chris Hemsworth-Kristen Stewart thriller 'Snow White and the Huntsman.'

From Deadline, ABC's new limited series will be drafted by 'Huntsman' scribe Evan Daugherty, and re-imagine the events of classic Victor Hugo tale 'The Hunchback Of Notre Dame' through the eyes of the beautiful Gypsy Esmeralda. Don't let ABC's involvement fool you however, there will be no connection to 'Once Upon A Time' or any of the 1996 Disney film.

In addition to penning the script for 'Esmeralda,' Daugherty will also executive produce the project with ABC Studios, Mandeville’s David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks.

Event series continue to become the big new ticket in TV town, but what say you? Would you to see what ABC comes up with for 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame's 'Esmeralda,' adding in a dash of 'Snow White and the Huntsman?' Tell us if you'd watch the new series in the comments!
