Before the city council adopted said measure in late 2006, they heard from the people of Abilene about their thoughts on it. I was one of those people. At the time, I was a smoker and vehemently opposed the ordinance.

Shortly after the city began to enforce the law my opinion totally changed.

I mean, I hated going outside to smoke when I was at the bar, but eventually I realized that I didn't wake up smelling like smoke nor did my clothes. That's when I began to see the benefit.

As time passed, I grew to appreciate the law even more because restaurants and bars weren't filled with smoke. I noticed my food and drinks didn't taste like cigarette smoke. I noticed I was able to watch the game without a cloud of smoke partially blocking the view.

Now that I don't smoke cigarettes anymore, I appreciate the ordinance even more.

What are your thoughts, do you think this law has been good or bad for Abilene?
