The Abilene Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse will host "Speak Up", a special event featuring guest speaker Sean Carter. Sean who cannot walk or talk, due to a brain injury he sustained in a car accident while riding with an impaired driver. Now Carter communicates through a computer. Sean and his mother Jenny Carter founded the "When Sean Speaks" foundation to spread their message of injury prevention and alcohol awareness. While Sean speaks to students on the dangers of youth drinking, drugs and impaired or distracted driving. His mother Jenny promotes the importance of fundraising for Traumatic Brain Injury research and treatment.

Anyone can attend this free event on impaired and/or distracted driving on the first day. the second day will be attended by students from 70 Big Country schools. Partnering for this event is the Abilene Safe Driving Coalition and the Bryce Kennedy Memorial foundation.
