Actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer Gets 3 Year Sentence in DUI Case

Actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer is best known for her role on "Melrose Place" received a 3 year sentence Thursday for vehicular homicide, a charge she was convicted of in November 2012. In 2010 Locane-Bovenizer killed a 60 year old woman, Helene Seeman in Montgomery Township, New Jersey.  The woman and her husband were turning into their driveway when they were hit by Locane-Bovenizer; her blood alcohol level 3 times the legal limit.

In addition to the prison sentence she will also have her driver's license revoked for 5 years, be on probation for 3 years following her release and pay thousands in fines. She will receive time served of 81 days which means she will be eligible for parole in 2 1/2 years.

Understandably the Seeman family was upset with this "light" sentence; she could have served a maximum sentence of 10 years but the Judge. Although not sympathetic with Locane-Bovenizer, the Judge allowed the lighter sentence to benefit Locane-Bovenizer's children, one of whom is mentally and medically challenged.

Seeman's husband, upon hearing the ruling, had an emotional outburst yelling "what a travesty" at the Judge before leaving the court room.
