We'll have to wait until tonight's season finale to find out exactly how 'American Horror Story: Asylum's "Madness Ends," but that hasn't stopped series creator and show-runner Ryan Murphy from moving full-steam ahead with season 3. Where series staples Jessica Lange, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson have all been confirmed to return, now we've learned that season 1 breakout star Taissa Farmiga is in talks to headline the upcoming third season as well! Find out who she'll play in 'American Horror Story' season 3 inside!

'American Horror Story: Asylum' has yet to close its doors, rounding out the second season with tonight's all-new finale episode "Madness Ends," but season 3 could be the real show-stopper. Via Entertainment Weekly, we've just learned that 'American Horror Story' season 1 star Taissa Farmiga has begun talks to return for season 3, taking a headlining role in the modern day 'Romeo and Juliet'-style season.

For those who didn't catch the first season, Farmiga played the role of young Violet Harmon, who was something of a problem child to parents Ben and Vivien (Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton), ultimately falling in love with the ghostly Tate Langdon (Evan Peters). Series creator Ryan Murphy spoke out on the decision to bring back Farmiga, joining fellow returning season 1 and 'Asylum' vets Peters, Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson:

I missed her this season. There wasn’t really a role for her. I feel very protective of her and I didn’t want her to go back into the loony bin—it was too dark. So I thought well ‘I want Taissa to be one of the leads next year.’ I called her up and pitched her the character for the season and she loved it and she said, ‘Yes let’s do it.’ So we’re in negotiations for her to headline season 3.

Murphy has revealed only select details of the FX drama's third season, including that season 3 would have a love story focus akin to the one between Violet and Tate in season 1. The season will be set in modern day across several cities, occasionally dipping back into the past as the narrative requires. Murphy also previewed that Peters role will likely prove that of a "sobbing psychopath" once again, while Jessica Lange would be a "glamour cat leading lady" of sorts.

What say you? Are you excited to have Taissa Farmiga back for 'American Horror Story' season 3? What other actors would you like to see return? Tune in for 'American Horror Story: Asylum' season finale "Madness Ends" tonight, and let us know what you think in the comments!
