Country-meets-blues singer-songwriter Austin Jenckes recently released a new single, "In My Head," and he's sharing a stripped-down, acoustic performance of the song exclusively with readers of The Boot. Press play above to listen to the tender, soulful tune, about replaying memories over and over in your head after the end of a relationship.

Even though he wrote the song, Jenckes didn't see himself recording "In My Head." "I didn't originally think of it for myself," he tells The Boot. However, "once we went into the studio to demo it, I ended up singing that version and fell in love with the vibe and story within the song.

"It has such vivid imagery in the lyrics," Jenckes adds, "that it feels like I'm in that moment every time we play it."

Jenckes' co-writers on "In My Head" are Lynn Hutton and Scott Stevens; Aaron Eshuis produced the song. The artist shot this acoustic performance video in Nashville, on a rooftop overlooking the city lights.

A Seattle, Wash., native now based in Nashville, Jenckes is currently preparing his debut album. In the meantime, he's been touring across the country alongside the Brothers Osborne; he recently performed the National Anthem at a Seattle Seahawks game and played a set to a sold-out crowd at Nashville's iconic Bluebird Cafe.

"In My Head" is out now, and available on Apple Music and Spotify. Jenckes's full-length debut is expected to arrive in 2019; fans can keep up to date with him on AustinJenckes.com.
