‘Top Gun 2’ May Reunite Tom Cruise With ‘Oblivion’ Director Joseph Kosinski
Just yesterday, Tom Cruise himself confirmed that Top Gun 2 is finally, officially, honest-to-goodness-they’re-not-joking-this-time happening. Today, it looks like it’s even closer to reality than we thought, as Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski is reportedly the frontrunner to helm the long-promised sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 classic — not entirely surprising, since he’s worked with Cruise before.
‘Wonder’ Trailer: Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay Are Going to Make You Cry
After you watch the first trailer for Wonder, two things will happen: First, you’re going to need to grab some tissues because something damp might be happening around your eyeball-area. After you’ve successfully tended to that whole situation, you’ll probably demand — out loud, to no one in particular — the names of the complete monsters who made this movie.
A Man Is Suing His Date for Texting During ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’
It’s a story fit for a mediocre rom-com: A 37-year-old man from Austin, Texas is suing a woman for texting during a screening of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And not just some random stranger, either — she was his date. In what he describes as “a first date from hell,” the woman allegedly refused to put her phone away and continued to text until he finally suggested she take the conversation outside. She did just that, taking her phone out of the theater, through the lobby, and out to the parking lot, where she drove off and left her date without a ride home.
‘Cars 3’ Trailer: Lightning McQueen Pumps the Brakes on Retirement
As the previous teasers already implied, Cars 3 is going to be a little…darker than previous Cars movies. In Pixar’s third installment of the hit franchise, Owen Wilson’s legendary race car Lightning McQueen is forced into retirement following a traumatic crash, and with all the shiny, young new cars — like Jackson Storm — dominating the track, Lightning has a tough road ahead if he wants to remain relevant. That’s a pretty heavy-sounding plot, but as the full trailer for Cars 3 proves, it’s not all doom and gloom in Cars World.
‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Teaser Presents the Whole Trailer in Just 10 Seconds
If you blink, you won’t just miss a couple of frames of the new Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer — you’ll miss the whole thing. In keeping with Kingsman’s subversive, irreverent attitude, the first teaser for the upcoming sequel sidesteps the usual format: You won’t find a pointless five-second clip here. Instead, 20th Century Fox has served up the entire forthcoming trailer, condensed to 10 hyper-edited seconds.
‘Little Hours’ Red Band Trailer: Aubrey Plaza and Alison Brie are Sinful Nuns
The first — red band and incredibly NSFW — trailer for The Little Hours ticks off so many of the right boxes: Aubrey Plaza and Alison Brie as foul-mouthed, promiscuous nuns. John C. Reilly, merely existing because that’s really all that we require of him. Fred Armisen’s off-kilter humor, Dave Franco (the superior Franco), Nick Offerman, and Molly Shannon — all participating in a raunchy take on those stoic Euro masterpieces from the ’70s. (Despite the fact that The Devils already exists.)
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Trailer Breakdown: Finding the Hints in the Light and the Dark
The first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi debuted this morning, and…wow, we’re gonna need a minute (or 20) to process, especially with Luke Skywalker’s suspenseful voiceover. We were promised we’d get to hear Mark Hamill speak, and speak he does — throughout most of the trailer, ending with a fairly chilling line: “It’s time for the Jedi to end.” But what does that mean?! Is Rey the eponymous last Jedi, or is Luke? That’s something we probably won’t know until December. For now, join us as we try to break it all down and take a closer look at the most thrilling (and possibly telling) moments with GIFs and screenshots from the trailer.
Don Rickles, Iconic Comedian and Actor, Dead at 90
Don Rickles’ talents were seemingly limitless: An outrageous insult comic, a gifted dramatic actor, a welcome sight on stages and screens (big and small), and a constant presence whose career endured for decades, often surpassing his contemporaries. And now he’s gone on to join them, as the legendary Rickles passed away today, April 6, at the age of 90.
‘It’ Trailer: Stephen King’s Horror Classic Is Back to Haunt You Again
Horror fans have been waiting for months. Stephen King fans have been waiting for years. And after a week of teasers and sneak peeks, the first trailer for It, Andres Muschietti’s highly-anticipated adaptation of King’s classic horror novel (or one half of it, anyway) is finally here to give us our best look yet at that divisive new take on the iconic evil clown. Beep beep, we’re all gonna float.
Michael Shannon’s Karaoke Skills Are a Gift to Us All
In these bleak times, pleasant distractions have become a commodity; we’ll take all the joy we can get from wherever we can get it — like Michael Shannon singing his karaoke go-to song on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Listen, you hardly need additional incentive to watch this clip (it’s Michael Shannon singing karaoke), but you might be interested to know that Shannon’s favorite karaoke jam is about as weird and wonderful as you’d expect.
‘Kong: Skull Island’ Trailer: We Gotta Get Out of This Place
Each new trailer for Kong: Skull Island offers a little more humor than the last, and in the final trailer for the King’s revival, it’s not just John C. Reilly who’s monkeying around. Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Corey Hawkins also get a few comedic beats in during the latest sneak peek, which is cleverly set to The Animals’ “We Gotta Get Out of This Place.” And there are plenty of good reasons to get the heck off of that island.
Shane Black’s ‘Predator’ Targets ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Alfie Allen
It’s a big day for Game of Thrones actors hopping over to other major franchises; following news of Iwan Rheon’s (aka Ramsay Bolton) casting in Marvel’s upcoming Inhumans series comes word that his co-star Alfie Allen has joined Shane Black’s Predator sequel. It looks like Allen, best known for playing Theon Greyjoy in the HBO series, will go from being hunted by Ramsay and his dogs to being hunted by a terrifying predatory alien. Maybe it’s time for Allen to add “good at being chased” to his resume.
