Tiger Woods used to be the most dominating player in the world of golf; some say the history of golf. Then, as you know, he had a major fall from grace and went 2 1/2 years without a win. With his recent wins, do you think Tiger Woods is back to the prime form he was in before the scandal?
Within hours of the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the national healthcare mandate – commonly referred to as Obamacare – people with strong opinions reacted. We got to hear from a lot of politicians, television news anchors and their guest, and even legendary country music star Charlie Daniels. The only thing that surprised me about the 75 year-old’s comments is that he tweeted them. What happened to the good old days when musicians wrote when they felt strongly about something?
There’s a new restaurant getting ready to open its doors in Abilene. Shogun Steak and Sushi Bar has taken over the space that used to be Asia Buffet on the corner of South Danville and South 14th Street.
A few days ago, I asked who you believe is the best Texas music artist of all time. We had great response to this question, and got into some very spirited and intelligent conversation on the radio and online. Thanks to everyone who shared their opinions and the reasoning behind them.
You’ve heard the phrase, “you couldn’t pay me to go see that movie”, right? This weekend, I saw previews for two such movies. These are two movies that are expected to do very well at the box office (mainly based on the cast, I guess), so I’m not here to make any prediction on the flop of two movies that nobody went to see.
A few days ago, we talked about Timothy Poe, the country singer who had the judges and audience in tears on the NBC television show “America’s Got Talent”. After discussing it on the radio, Facebook, and on our website, we decided to make an official poll, asking “Should Timothy Poe be kicked off America’s Got Talent?”. Abilene voted, and the majority agrees that Poe needs to go.
Make no mistake about it, the state of Texas is a melting pot for music of the world. The Lone Star State is home to some of the greatest music of all genres. From country and western swing music, to blues, rock and heavy metal. From tejano to americana, even hip hop and rap, Texas welcomes it all with open arms. Texas has a rich music history that is discussed in college classrooms, saloons and dancehalls.
Got a sweet ride you want to show off? Or, do you just like to look at them? You can this weekend, and it goes to help out a great cause. The Big Country Car Club and the Muscular Dystrophy Association will present their annual Muscle 4 Muscles fundraiser this Saturday, June 16th.
Everyone has little things that get on their nerves. Maybe it drives you nuts when people pop their gum, or crack their knuckles, or when people say “I know, right?”. Or maybe nails on a chalkboard are, well, like nails on a chalkboard. I’m talking about pet peeves. When those (usually) harmless, minor habits that people have annoy you to a greater degree than it probably should.
I’ve been told my entire life that everyone has a special talent, and I believe it to be fact. We see a lot of people these days showing off their talents on television shows like “America’s Got Talent” all the time. But if you have a talent like mine, you know what it’s like for your special talent to be forgotten, found to be useless, or we just get too embarrassed to share.
