Last week the Abilene City Council approved the purchase of a military grade armored vehicle which will cost in excess of $220,000. The specific vehicle they’re looking at is a Lenco Bearcat. Obviously, a purchase of this magnitude can stir up some emotions, so we asked you what you thought about it and the results of our poll are lopsided.
The date was July 8th, 1947 when some form of ‘crash’, in Roswell, New Mexico, ignited chatter about UFOs and Aliens. Some believe in them, some don’t. Regardless, that date marks the launch of Alien fever in our nation.
The Reporter News reported that the Abilene City Council just approved the purchase of an armored vehicle for the Abilene Police Department. The Lenco Bearcat is the make and model that is being hunted down for the A.P.D. and said vehicle is reported to cost us $226,000 in which almost $7,000 will be used for shipping.
As I doze off each night, I’m either watching Colbert, Stewart, Fallon or Letterman…all depending on when I actually get in bed. Well, last night I flipped on the TV and The Late Show with David Letterman was on. Letterman, in my opinion, is the king of late-night TV and last night proved again his majesty reigns with a skit that Steve Martin starred in.
When I think of 7-Eleven, I immediately think of my dad taking me and my brother out for a Slurpee on a hot Saturday afternoon. My brother and I both preferred to mix the Coca-Cola and Wild Cherry flavors in one cup. I’d be willing to bet the Slurpee was a big part of your childhood too.
Another 4th of July has come and gone and what we are left with are the memories of the day and hopefully some great pictures of the fireworks. Whether it was a professionally produced fireworks show or just a small sparkler display with your kid in the backyard, we’d like to see your pictures and share them with everyone else.
Last year we experienced over 70 days of 100+ temperatures here in Abilene. With the current temperatures well into the triple digits, it looks like another hot summer. Send us a picture of your cars thermometer showing off the extreme heat and we’ll randomly choose a submission to win tickets to NRH2O Water Park.
It seems there has been a Zombie outbreak across the nation, thanks to the new synthetic drug known as ‘Bath Salts’. From Southern California over to Maryland and down to Florida, people are eating other people (and family pets) after ingesting this new drug. Abilene now has a facility that can test for Bath Salts.
Earlier this week I was ranting about people who are so primitive that the only form of communication they know is by telephone. So, I asked you what form of communication you use the most and the results don’t surprise me one bit.
