On Sunday, an official from Guinness World Records named a 72-year-old Nepalese man the shortest man alive and the shortest person ever to be recorded by the publication. He was presented with two certificates to commemorate these achievements.
Somewhere along the way, February 28th was declared Public Sleeping Day. There is no record of what tired person made this so, but the fact is that it’s a day. A day when you can go out and sleep in public, if you dare.
In the Arabian Sea, the Italian coast guard is reporting that the Costa Allegra, an Italian cruise ship, is adrift near the Seychelles islands after a fire broke out and caused the motors to stop working. They say the passengers are safe, but the ship cannot travel anywhere.
On Sunday, Hollywood will once again congratulate itself on a year of jobs well done. What’s unbelievably ridiculous about the Academy Awards is that in a sea of incredibly talented performances, the award can go to only one person. It just seems wrong.
For those of us who don’t spend our lives and retirement funds making movies, the actual awards part of the Academy Awards isn’t the most interesting. The people we like hardly ever win and we don’t care how much anybody’s publicist helped them get where they are today. What we really tune in to see are the fashion statements. More specifically the fashions that state, “Clearly, I’m nuts. Aren’t you glad you invited me to your little party?”

Though, since a reported 30 percent of the US workforce is now freelance, that has changed.
‘The Simpsons,’ that prime time television show we all love, has done the impossible by staying on the air for 22 years and 500 episodes. This exceptional milestone was reached on Sunday evening on Fox. But is it still as good at 500 episodes as it was at 100?
The king cake is a traditional Mardi Gras food. It is usually a ring-shaped pastry, sometimes filled with cheese or jelly and sprinkled with the colors of Mardi Gras. It began as an Epiphany treat, celebrating the arrival of the Three Wise Men to the stable where Jesus was born. Oh, and it’s delicious.
