It’s official! Waffles for everyone! Save for ‘The Office,’ as of now NBC has renewed all of its best single-camera sitcoms for additional seasons! One night after Leslie Knope had her big victory in Pawnee City Council, NBC has opted to renew ‘Parks and Recreation‘ for an additional season! Joining ‘Parks’ for an additional season is freshman parenting comedy ‘Up All Night,’ but the real question remains: just how many episodes will each renewal see?
Let the reign of Seth MacFarlane continue! Where once ‘Family Guy‘ had been cancelled and seemingly gone forever, eight years later FOX announces that the series will indeed return for an 11th season, while its spiritual spin-off ‘American Dad‘ will return for an eighth alongside it. So with Seth MacFarlane’s first two series renewed, what’s to become of ‘The Cleveland Show?’
Now that both ‘Community‘ and ‘Fringe‘ have been officially saved for cancellation, it feels like most TV-goers can breathe actual sighs of relief, few other series coming so close to the bubble. Still, after NBC and FOX‘s laundry list of pickups, things have been curiously quiet on the front of ABC. ABC maintains less bubble series to be sure, but how much longer until we can expect relief? No longer!
It doesn’t seem to matter that the original ‘Law & Order‘ has fallen by the wayside, that series star Christopher Meloni has since departed, or how old and parody-able the franchise has become, NBC isn’t ready to give up on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ just yet. More than just a renewal however, NBC look to keep franchise creator Dick Wolf very happy with a new deal including an order for a new original series. More procedurals? Read on…
Well, it’s not all bad news. As shows like ‘Breaking In,’ ‘Alcatraz,’ and ‘The Finder‘ fall by the wayside, FOX has given life to at least five new series for the coming season. But of the five currently approved for season orders, what might some castings mean for actors currently engaged on on other shows?
On ‘Mad Men,’ it’s hard not to see Jon Hamm‘s Don Draper as the cool dad, the kind of father who knows when to reign in his young daughter’s use of makeup but still throw her a bone and taker her out to a fancy dinner. Is it any surprise then, that Jon Hamm himself seems right at home giving advice to teen girls, even extolling the virtues of the ever-elusive female fart? This, you’ll have to see for yourself.
Please, make it stop. Chevy Chase, you break our hearts whenever you open your mouth about ‘Community.’ That’s right, it seems as though even weeks after the fervor of ‘Community’ star and comedy legend Chevy’ Chase’s feud with series creator Dan Harmon seems to have died down, the silver-haired comedian is at it again with any reporter who asks.
“Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” still might provide an endless source of inspiration for fans of ‘Friday Night Lights,’ but ever since the series ended and talk of a movie has kicked around the way most TV shows always do, it’s been hard to keep the faith. So according to the show’s creator and stars, what’s the spread on whether or not it really happens?
Thank goodness Michael Bay‘s next project still takes place in the age of gunpowder, otherwise the director’s first TV foray would be dreadfully devoid of explosions. But if Michael Bay really is to take to TV for a new Starz series, what classic story might the upcoming ‘Black Sails’ draw its inspiration from, how will it manage to incorporate giant robots?
Though the negotiation efforts were far tamer than last year’s mad dash scramble to replace Charlie Sheen in CBS’ most popular sitcom, now ‘Two and a Half Men‘ fans can rest easy that Walden, Alan and Jake will return for a tenth season of the long-running series. Whether or not they secured the lucrative pay hikes sought, is another matter.
It almost sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Two of America’s most charming Southern-flavored actors doing a buddy-detective story on cable? Perhaps an oversimplification, but for now it seems like HBO has won the bidding war to the high-profile new drama ‘True Detective,’ written by ‘The Killing‘s own Nic Pizzolato.
