Poll Results Reveal Most People Believe in the Death Penalty
A few days ago, I posted a blog with a poll question asking, ‘Do You Believe in the Death Penalty?‘. I’d like to say that, I’m not surprised. However, I am surprised at how many folks are either against or undecided on the issue. A majority of people are for the death penalty, here are the numbers.

Bikers Will Participate in Fun Run for Abilene’s New Diaper Bank
Saturday June 2nd, there will be a bike run in Buffalo Gap benefiting, ‘Baija’s Promise Ministries’. This fundraising event will help Baija’s Promise fill a warehouse with diapers, thus the name for the bike run, ‘Bikers for Bottoms’. Baija’s Promise Ministries is a nonprofit organization that ministers to young pregnant teens and helps provide them with diapers and other essentials that a young teen mother needs to help raise a child.

Texas is one of the few states that still uses the death penalty. 482 Texas inmates have been put to death in the Lone Star State since 1982. Five more inmates are scheduled to be executed in Texas this year. Men aren’t the only ones on death row, three woman have been executed in Texas since 1998. Proponents of the death penalty claim that ‘having the death penalty deters crime’, does it?. What are your thoughts on the death penalty?

Texas Tech Researchers Discover Antibiotics in Store Bought Shrimp [VIDEO]
Researchers at Texas Tech University found evidence of contamination after they tested some samples of farm-raised shrimp that came from abroad. Within the testing, the researchers discovered evidence of antibiotics and one of those antibiotics is a suspected dangerous human carcinogen. The shrimp was purchased from grocery store right here in the good ole USA.

Texas is Tops in Wind Energy at the 2012 Wind Power Summit

The Dr. Seuss Festival is Coming to Abilene
The Cultiral Affairs Council is putting on the Children’s Art and Literacy Festival (CALF) or as many are calling it the Dr. Suess Festival. It all kicks off during Art Walk on Thursday, June 14th and continues through Sunday, June 17th, 2012. Downtown Abilene will be transformed into the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss. View all his work at the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature (NCCIL) and at The Center for Contemporary Arts. Children will enjoy dramatic presentations from eight different Dr. Seuss books throughout the four day event.
