February 18, 2013 The Kiwanis Club of Greater Abilene will hold their 57th annual Chili Day and Auction on Saturday, February 23, at the Abilene Civic Center. The Kiwanis take much pride in the fact that they donate monies and assist many local charities with the resources raised for the Chili Day and Auction.To purchase tickets to the event, simply ask a Kiwanis Club member or get them at the door.
February 18, 2013 In what sounds like an old Jackson Browne or Bob Segar remake, Gretchen Wilson has hit her mark with the first released song "Still Rollin'" from her upcoming album titled "Right on Time." From the very start of the song, it sounds as if it came straight off of a Browne or Segar album, but it didn't. In fact, Gretchen and her longtime friend and fellow songwriter Vicky McGehee, wrote the song. Now, the last big news we heard from Gretchen Wilson was in 2009 when she opened her new record label Redneck Records. Today, 2013 promises to be her biggest year ever.
February 14, 2013 When I first came across this I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to be a shooter or the pilot. I think, this is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. It's called "Gnat Shooting" and it's like Skeet/Sporting clays, but instead of shooting at little orange clay discs you're shooting at a 'drone airplane' loaded with pyrotechnic charges on-board. When you hit the drone it will either explode a cloud of white smoke or a 'direct hit' will down the airplane. These ATS Gnat Shoots have become very popular sport that charitable organizations are using them as fundraisers.

Zach Harmon is a home town boy that knows all the back roads of Abilene, the way of life and the west Texas pace and Zach does an excellent job painting that picture, in his latest single 'Those Stars Still Shine.' The second you hear his song, you're sent back in time remembering all the old landmarks and things you did. As I listened I found myself smiling, remembering the old Town And Country Drive-in and how much simpler things were back then. Zach Harmon's got a hit song on his hands and as soon as you hear it, you'll agree.
February 13, 2013 The 11th annual Top Gun Clay Shoot benefiting the West Texas Rehab Center is scheduled for March 22nd and 23rd at the Abilene Clay Sports south range. It's the first year as a two-day event and the firsrt time it will feature two separate courses to shoot from. This clay shoot is one of the more popular clay shoots in West Texas, with more shotguns given away and more prizes as well. A sign-up discount is being offered if registered by Thursday, February 28th.
February 13, 2013 Terri Clark is making a come back, after listening to her new song a remake of the old George Jones and Tammy Wynette duet of 'Golden Ring', I believe that that Terri Clark and her duet partner Dierks Bentley did an awesome job on this song. February 12, 2013 The Abilene Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting the awesome Texas Farm, Ranch and Wildlife Expo for 2013 at the Taylor County Coliseum. Don't miss out this year and get there early on Tuesday, February 19th from 9:00 AM till 6:00 PM and Wednesday, February 20th from 9:00 AM till 4:00 PM. Displays will be set up on the coliseum floor, coliseum foyer area and outside the coliseum.
February 12, 2013 Andy Griggs agreed to do a special promotion, where he takes a test drive in a new car and he talks about his music. The subject during this test drive is his brand new song called 'Twenty Little Angels' of which all the money made from the song, Andy is donating to the victims and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. Andy says "this song really is special to me, because of the tragedy and it's touched a lot of lives and it touched mine first." Griggs said "but it goes deeper than that."
February 11, 2013 The Dallas born Texas native Deryl Dodd once thought it would benefit him to move to Nashville Tennessee to further his music career, and at first it looked as if things were going to take off. By 1996, he signed to record for Sony/Columbia Records Nashville. Then ole Mister Bad Luck moves in, Deryl was hit with a bout of viral encephalitis putting his career on hold for quite some time. Today 'The Double D' man is back and releasing his latest single entitled 'Somethin' ain't Always Better Than Nothing.' Give it a listen and tell me what you think.

February 6, 2013 Billy Deans musical career has spanned more than eighteen years and he's served us up twelve albums with eleven 'Top 10' songs. Now the former Floridian is back in the thick of things with a new album and a brand new single release. The new song is called 'I Can't Leave A Good Thing' from the album 'A Man Of Good Fortune.' After hearing it for the first time, I say "Where have you been Billy and what took you so long to get back?" Billy Dean is back, and in my humble opinion he sounds better than he ever did.
