January 4, 2013 Miranda Lambert's new song 'Mama's Broken Heart' is very reminiscent of a song Miranda did in her early years in the music industry. A song that kind of set the stage for her 'rough and tough, bad girl image' the old song is 'Kerosene.' While her superstar husband, Blake Shelton is making New Years resolutions of trying to be 'less controversial' and a 'nicer guy,' Miranda puts out another 'rough and tough, burn the town down' kind of song. I like this one as it's got, what I think are two different beats in one song, you be the judge.
January 2, 2013 The West Texas Rehabilitation Center's Annual Telethon is scheduled to air live from the Abilene Civic Center, January 19 from 7 p.m. to midnight. As with the telethon every year there is a huge auction that takes place and you can participate in from your computer. You'll find everything imaginable from handmade afghans to yard furniture. At years end the 'Red' superstar was not only the youngest, she was also the most charitable celebrity in America. Swift puts her money where her heart is mostly in music. One of Taylor's single largest donations was to Country Music Hall of Fame (CMHOF) to the tune of four million dollars to help the CMHOF spread the music.

I'm not much of a drinker but after watching a series of Bundaberg Rum commercials I'd consider trying it. In this one (you golfers will appreciate) a golfer get assistance from, what I call the 'Bundaberg Buddies' removing the alligator from a favorable spot on the green. I do not believe this commercial aired in the United States.

December 26, 2012 The May Rodeo Association's (MRA) 3rd Annual New Year's Eve dance is scheduled for December 31st, featuring the James Lann Band. This event is very important to the association because they've recently torn down their old arena and will begin working on building a new one very soon. Money from this fundraising event will be used to help build the new arena. Any additional donations are greatly appreciated by the association.

December 25, 2012 This is my top five countdown of the greatest country Christmas songs of all time. Coming in at #1 is George Strait, his song 'Christmas Cookies' is an all time favorite of country music fans everywhere, it debuted in December of 2002. Although MCA Records released the album 2002 "Christmas Cookies" peaked in the Billboard Hot 100 at #33 the album was called 'A Country Christmas' issued in late November of 1999.

Coming in at #2 is Brenda Lee, her single 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' debuted in December of 1958. Although Decca Records released the single in both 1958 and again in 1959, it did not sell well until Brenda Lee became a more popular star in 1960. During Christmas of 1960, 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' topped out at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It continued to sell well during holiday seasons, peaking as high as #3 on Billboard's Christmas chart in December 1965.
