2nd Annual American Cancer Society Bark for Life Relay is March 1st in Abilene

The 2nd annual Bark for Life Relay from the American Cancer Society (ACS) is scheduled for March 1st at Nelson Park in Abilene. Unlike the 12-hour 'Relay for Life,' the Bark for Life will only go from 9am until 1pm. This fundraiser promises to be a fun and festive event complete with a survivor lap, demonstrations, contests, and games. Bark for Life is a noncompetitive walking event for dogs and their owners. This is a fundraiser and awareness event for the American Cancer Society.

Lee Brice Just Released “I Don’t Dance” What He Calls His Kind of Wedding Song

 

Lee Brice admitted to Radio.com that his song "I Don't Dance" is about him and his wife just before they got married last April. “Basically it’s a song that I was writing about who I was and where my wife basically brought me to. So it’s a song geared toward our first dance.” Brice says it's not what he calls a wedding song but it's “kind of a wedding sort of a thing.”

Who Can Predict the Weather Better, Punxsutawney Phil or the Old Farmers Almanac?

Who can better predict the weather, Punxsutawney Phil or the Old Farmers Almanac? That was the topic of discussion at my house on Sunday Groundhog day. Since Phil saw his shadow and went back into his hole, that means we're in for six more weeks of cold winter weather.

My daughter (who is college educated) believes that groundhogs have some kind of internal sensor to predict the weather. I told her I thought my Old Farmers Almanac does a better job of "accurately" predicting the weather. That got me to thinking, how accurate are these two sources at predicting the weather? Here's what I found out.

Shania Twain and Travis Tritt Rank Among the “Best All-Time Super Bowl Halftime Performers”

I can't say I was totally surprised that only two country artists, Shania Twain and Travis Tritt made 'Rankers' "Best All-Time Super Bowl Halftime Performer" list. The list included mostly rock artists. At the top of the list is Michael Jackson, followed by Prince, Beyonce', Aerosmith and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in the top five. Shania was 15 while Tritt's 1994 Country Halftime Show appearance came in at number 17. Check out Shania's 2003 halftime show and who else made the list.

The Top Songs From the Winter of 2010

The Winter of 2010 was definitely the year for Lady Antebellum. The group was being nominated for all kinds of awards, and they were winning them all. So it's no surprise that Lady Antebellum was also occupying the top of the music charts too. The song "Need You Now" seemed to have all of us in West Texas in a trance like state. We are amazed at their harmonies and the groups over all sound. The winter of 2010 also had other amazing songs like it.

The Benefit Fundraiser for 16 Month Old Addison Grace is Jan. 31st – Feb. 2nd in Abilene

 

Addison Grace is a 16 month old little girl that has been fighting to stay alive. She was born with a very rare heart defect and at 3 months old, Addison underwent open heart surgery. One month later she was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called "Fibrosarcoma" and she's still fighting for her life. A benefit fundraiser, auction and raffle has been set up to help Addison's mom and dad offset some of her medical expenses.
