March 9, 2013 Abilene's largest and most popular clay shoot is upon us. The 11th Annual West Texas Rehabilitation Center's Top Gun Classic Clay Shoot is taking place March 21st and 22nd. The classic is at capacity as far as shooters are concerned. As I was broadcasting live at Haught's Tree Service recently, I spoke with the Rehab Centers Director of Marketing and Donor Relations Dan Huggins (who was there picking up prizes), he said "we will never be too full that we can't take another team."

March 7, 2013 One Night Rodeo (ONR), The Next GAC Star winner is a contemporary country sounding band that is from Bradenton, FL. ONR is made up of Cory Hildreth on lead vocals, keys, guitar, and mandolin while Duane Allison plays bass guitar and covers vocals too. For the most part Cory and Duane have 13 years and over 2,000 performances under their belt.ONR has opened for some heavyweights like Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and Montgomery Gentry to name a few. Now ONR released a fundraising song to benefit the American Cancer Society.
March 6, 2013 Every year it's been the same routine, I'm running around getting everything ready to go on a summer vacation. This time I decided to put together a 'Preparing for Summer Vacation' checklist. I'm always forgetting something, my razor, an mp3 recorder, sunglasses, camera, medicines and even a spare tire (yes, a spare tire). Several years ago I took my spare tire in to have it checked prior to vacation. I forgot to go pick it up before leaving town, can you guess what happened on I-45 just outside of Houston? Four hours and several hundred dollars later we were back on the road again. So here's my list I hope it helps.
March 5, 2013 If you're looking for places to Easter Egg Hunt this Easter in Abilene, I have good news and bad news.
First the bad news, the city-wide Easter Egg Hunt at Oscar Rose Park will not happen this year because according to one of the events organizers, New Hope Church Pastor Michael Chandler, said "I don't believe we were being very evangelical by simply hosting the egg hunt. We saw many people and we were never able to minister to them."
Now for the good news.

Sweetwater Rain is a new band that has quickly jump its way up the charts, and when I first heard their new song 'Starshine' I thought it was a good song. Until I saw their crazy video with the strange 'human-animals' some dressed as if they just came off of the pages of 'Alice in Wonderland.'
March 4, 2013 I was watching our local news yesterday and saw this story about our enlisted military personnel and their pets. What happens to Fido when our nations defenders are deployed to the other side of the earth? While in the past many of our nations service men and women would either send their pets to their parents or other family members, if that is an option. In most cases the enlisted personnel would surrender their pets to local animal shelters. Until now, Dogs On Deployment is a national non-profit that provides service members with an online database of individuals and/or families who are willing to welcome a Dog On Deployment into their home for the length of their owner's deployment.
March 3, 2013 Larry Joe Taylor's (LJT) self titled 25th Annual Texas Music Festival is coming to the Melody Mountain Ranch April 23rd through April 27th. The Melody Mountain Ranch has become a hot spot for Texas Music and the springboard for many a Texas Music artist's career. Texas music lovers have another common love, chili. How the two ever got hitched up we may never know, but one thing is for certain you will find both at Larry Joe Taylor's big shindig this April in Stephenville Texas.
March 2, 2013 Who says 13 is an unlucky number? The 13th Annual KEAN 105 St. Jude Radiothon, Feb. 28th and March 1st was successful in raising over $35,500 for the kids of St. Jude. For two days and a total of 26 hours Shay in the Midday Hill, Super Dave Wheaton and I put on a radiothon sharing the our stories, and those of the families that have been helped by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The children that are helped by St. Jude come from all over, but many are from right here in West Texas.
March 1, 2013 Hunter Hutchinson has always loved music and he comes by it naturally, his dad the late Chuck Hutchinson loved music too, as you'll be able to see in the music video, Chuck loved strumming a guitar. So recently, son Hunter wrote and recorded several songs and when Hunter visited KEAN he shared one song in particular about his dad, "The Man Who Believes in Me" from Hunters new Texas Music album titled "Texas Too." Now Hunter has completed a music video in honor of his dad. Chuck Hutchinson was the owner of the American Classifieds and what I remember most is his infectious smile and strong hand shake.

February 25, 2013 Brad Paisley is on fire with his new song 'Beat This Summer'. This is truly a Brad Paisley song from the lyrics to the music and besides, it's a fun summer song (that alone says Brad Paisley). This is also a serious love song, about a summer love. We've all had a summer love, it's here for a while, then as fast as it came, it's all over. Musically, this is a signature Brad Paisley tune, from the hot guitar licks to the carefully planned banjo picks. Written by Brad Paisley and a couple of guys he regularly writes with Chris DuBois and Luke Laird. The song is as up-tempo and hot as summer is. I'm thinking "summer can't get here fast enough and I'm looking for my blender to get those frozen Margarita's and Piña Colada's going."
