Best Margarita Recipes for Cinco de Mayo

MarkSkalny, Thinkstock

With Cinco de Mayo around the corner, many people will be dusting off their margarita making skills. So, instead of searching all over the web for recipes, here are some classic and exotic margarita mixes to get your drink on with.

Classic Margarita

• 1 1/4 oz tequila
• 2/3 oz of Cointreau or Triple Sec
• 1/2 oz of lemon or lime juice
• salt for rimming

To get a good classic margarita, many people will just buy a mix and add the tequila. But, if you want the mix to be made from scratch, just take these simple ingredients and mix them all together in a tumbler. Make sure to rub the rim of the glass with a slice of lime, or even water to make the salt stick. If you're trying to watch your salt intake, just simply leave it off.

Cadillac Margarita

• 1 1/2 oz premium tequila
• 1 oz Grand Marnier
• 3/4 oz lime juice
• salt for rimming

This recipe is a step up from the classic in that it uses premium ingredients. The way you mix it is still the same though. Just mix all of the ingredients in a shaker with ice cubes, then pour it all into a chilled glass. Once again, a salted rim is optional.
