Billy Ray Cyrus will still be the king in 2017. The country singer's CMT show Still the King has been renewed for a second season.

Still the King is the first original scripted show to air on CMT. The show follows Cyrus' character Vernon Brown (aka, "Burnin' Vernon"), a one-hit wonder-turned-Elvis impersonator who has struggled with scandal and, after drunkenly crashing his car into a church sign, is sentenced to perform community service at the place of his crime. However, Brown decides to pretend to be the church’s new minister, and he reconnects with a former one-night-stand (Joey Lauren Adams) — but things get complicated when he learns that he has a teenage daughter (Madison Iseman) he’s never met.

“Working on the series has been a career highlight,” Cyrus says (quote via Deadline). “Thanks to the fans for embracing these crazy characters and all of their beautiful flaws. We’re going to take this mess to a whole new level next season.”

The series premiere of Still the King, which aired in June, brought CMT its highest viewership for an original series premiere. A premiere date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, but the Season 1 finale is set to air on Aug. 14.

Cyrus is also keeping busy with new music: His new album, Thin Line, will drop on Blue Cadillac Music on Sept. 9. The project features a number of special guests, including Cyrus’ children Miley and Braison, Shooter JenningsAerosmith‘s Joe Perry and more.
