Blake Shelton Told Kelly Clarkson’s Fiance to Get His Head Out of His Butt and Propose
Blake Shelton is an advocate for a life of marital bliss — so much so that the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year gave his manager, Brandon Blackstock, a persuading pep talk just before the music row executive popped the question to his now fiance, Kelly Clarkson.
“I told Brandon, man, you need to grow up and figure out that you need to marry this girl,” Shelton recalls of his intervention with Blackstock (quote via Us Magazine).
The resourceful country music superstar even bartered with Blackstock, offering his services as an amateur wedding singer in an effort to get the ball rolling with the pending nuptials.
“I am going on the record saying, I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I’ll be that guy,” says the ‘God Gave Me You’ singer. “I will play for four hours if I have to, cause you need to get your head out of your ass and ask that girl to marry you.”
Obviously, Shelton’s meddling paid off, but it seem as though he isn’t the only country music superstar hoping to serenade the happy couple during the reception. Blackstock’s country icon stepmother, Reba McEntire, has also stepped forward to offer herself as in-house entertainment.
“And speaking of the engagement, since you are going to be my daughter-in-law, I’m singing at the wedding, right??” McEntire tweeted on Wednesday (Dec. 19), speaking to Clarkson.
It appears Clarkson is not opposed to the idea — as long as she has the first say in what her friend and future in-law performs. “Obviously! My request is “Let’s Get It On” by Al Green,” she repsonded. “That’s not awkward, right? ”
Clarkson announced her engagement last week on her social media sites, offering fans a first look at her stunning one-of-a-kind yellow canary diamond engagement ring. The marriage is Clarkson’s first, and the second for Blackstock.
No date for the nuptials has been announced.
