Carly Rose Sonenclar’s Family Furious Over LeAnn Rimes’ Comments About ‘X Factor’ Performance
The drama surrounding LeAnn Rimes‘ duet with ‘X Factor‘ contestant Carly Rose Sonenclar continues. After the less-than-perfect performance generated some criticisms — like comments that the ladies had no chemistry and struggled to the suggestion that Rimes was drunk — the family of Sonenclar, who placed second on the show, is hopping mad over the singer’s comments. Rimes’ statements seemed to lay blame on the teen.
Rimes said that Sonenclar, 13, was “nervous and had trouble hitting the right notes” during their rendition of the country singer’s smash ‘How Do I Live.’ The ladies smiled at each other during the performance, and Rimes — who first attained her success around the same age as Sonenclar — even reached for the teen’s hand when she met her on stage.
After chalking up the chatter about her being “drunk” to awkwardness created by the fact that she was “trying to help a 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song,” Rimes denied the quote, even though her rep provided it and said it was legit and useable.
TMZ reports that sources close to the Sonenclar family say Carly Rose’s mother and other relatives are incredibly angry about the post-performance comments. They think Rimes threw the teen under the bus, which is made worse by the fact that she just suffered a heartbreaking loss on the show. As an extra sting, the Sonenclar family say they also feel that Carly outperformed Rimes on her own song.
Nevertheless, Rimes says via Twitter, “In my 18 years of performing, I have never been anything but professional onstage.”
