Carrie Underwood is smack dab in the middle of preparations and rehearsals for the lead role of Maria in the live staging of 'The Sound of Music,' which airs on NBC on Thursday, Dec. 5, so she remains a busy gal. The singer has returned to the studio, as well.

The superstar tweeted a simple message, writing "Fun in the studio!" She also shared a composite photo of a mixing board, sheet music and string players.

Underwood didn't reveal any other concrete details about the image or the studio experience. But it's safe to assume that this current studio activity has to do with the 'Two Black Cadillacs' singer's upcoming role as Maria in the family classic, as opposed to working on material for a brand new album and the follow up to 'Blown Away.'

Sony will be releasing the soundtrack to the musical on Dec. 3, two days before the live show airs. This event is shaping up to be one that country music fans and Carrie Underwood fans won't want to miss this holiday season.
