'The Voice' contestant Cary Laine gave a rendition of the Band Perry's 'Better Dig Two' on Tuesday (Feb. 25) that was so powerful, it knocked the socks off of all four coaches. Shockingly, however, she didn't pick Blake Shelton for her coach.

Laine, 28, appears to be a country girl through and through. The mother of two wore red cowboy boots and a red leather jacket, giving her all in the fiery performance of the trio's hit.

Adam Levine was the first coach to press his button and swivel around, but the other three coaches -- Shelton, Shakira and Usher -- all followed suit.

From the get-go, it was clear the Maroon 5 frontman wanted Laine on his team. He jumped up and escorted her to his chair, explaining, "I want her to be comfortable; she should have a seat in my big red leather chair over here." His sly smile indicated that Levine knows exactly how to woo a lady.

Although Laine said that she's a country artist "to the core," Levine played that card to his advantage, pointing out the absence of a female country singer on his team, meaning she would not have any competition within his circle.

Not to be outdone, Shelton retorted, "There's a reason he doesn't have a female country singer on his team." He leaned in to Laine and asked, "You take country music seriously, right? You want Nashville to take you seriously from this point forward, right?"

As she adamantly agreed, the 'Boys 'Round Here' hitmaker pointed out that one of his past contestants -- Season 3 winner of 'The Voice,' Cassadee Pope -- has already had her first No. 1 album in country music.

Levine barreled forward in his intent, urging Laine to break out of the mold for once, while Shelton encouraged the country contestant to play it a little safe. "This is not the time to experiment with your life," the country star told her.

However, Laine's heart had already been stolen by the Sexiest Man Alive -- she chose Levine.

"I felt like Adam really wanted me on his team," she explained of her decision. "He really fought for me."

Did she make the right pick? As this season of 'The Voice' unfolds, it will be interesting to see if Levine's pop background sets Laine up for success ... or if Shelton would have been a better option.
