The "Friends of NRA" is a group that hold fundraisers, such as banquets, for the 'future of shooting sports'. Friends of NRA banquets are known for three things- fun, fellowship, and fundraising. Last year alone, there were over 1,070 Friends of NRA events across the country raising over $20 million dollars for The NRA Foundation.

Locally, the next "Friends of NRA" banquet is scheduled for June 29th.

The Empty Bowls Project is a fundraising event where you pay $10.00 for a bowl of soup and some bread or crackers, and when you're done eating, you get to keep the bowl. All the bowls are one-of-a-kind hand crafted by artisans from around the Big Country and the Lone Star State. All funds raised go directly back into our community to feed the hungry, through church/community kitchens and/or pantries.

Now those four winners of the prestigious 'Ultimate Elvis Presley Tribute Artist Competition' are touring together, as they portray the King of Rock and Roll at various stages in his career. Blues era  to the Las Vega high roller to the black leather 'Comeback Special Elvis of '68' to the touring Elvis clad in white jumpers. Those "Gentle Giants" more commonly known as the "Budweiser Clydesdales" are coming to Abilene to the Western Heritage Classic May 9-11, at the Taylor County Expo Center. The best place for West Texans to get their first view of the famed Budweiser Clydesdales will be at the 'Western Heritage Parade' at 6:30 p.m. on May 9th as they pull the Budweiser wagon through the streets of Downtown Abilene.

Abilene's largest and most popular clay shoot is upon us. The 11th Annual West Texas Rehabilitation Center's Top Gun Classic Clay Shoot is taking place March 21st and 22nd. The classic is at capacity as far as shooters are concerned.
