McMurry University Band is Holding a Big Garage Sale This Saturday

The McMurry Marching Band is having a big 'fundraiser garage sale' this Saturday, October 6th. The event will benefit the McMurry Band and the new band service organization, Kappa Kappa Psi. Keith Lloyd the assistant Director of Bands says "we're clearing out closets, storage buildings and other rooms of all the old band things we no longer need". Not only 'band' related items will be for sale.

Abilene Realtors Distribute Record Number of Free Shoes During Walk With Pride

The Abilene Association of Realtors (AAOR) and the Salvation Army say they are “extremely happy with the number of Abilene area residents that participated in the Walk With Pride event”. Shanda Tijerina the Public Relations Chairwoman for the Association says, “627 Children received brand new shoes and socks in time for for back to school”.

Local Area 4-H Club to Host 5-Stand Shotgun Shoot

The Callahan County 4-h shooting sports program, will be putting on a five stand shoot, Saturday, September the 8th at the Callahan County 4-H range. You can put your team together or shoot individually. The 4-H club will be offering a “Team 5-Stand”, “Individual 5-Stand” and “Trap”. The entry fees vary depending on how you choose to shoot.

"Swingin’ Tex Fest" to Benefit Ben Richie Boys Ranch This Weekend [AUDIO]

The “Swingin’ Tex-Fest” is coming to the Taylor County Fair grounds on August 24th and 25th, 2012. This is a two day fundraiser for the Ben Richie Boys Ranch. From what I’ve gathered this brainchild was a cooperative effort, between John Thomas of the Boys Ranch and Mark Powell of Lariat fame. Grammy award winner Junior Brown will be the headliner. Brown will not be alone though on this two day swing festival.
