Halloween is just a few days away and since this annual holiday falls on a Monday, parties are bound to pop up during the weekend to accommodate those who have to go to work without hangovers on (though that probably won’t stop people from having too many candy corn martinis).
The only problem is that you don’t have a costume. You could throw on a dirty old bedsheet, cut a few holes in it and tell people you’re a beige ghost. Or you could actually be clever and in-tune with what’s happening and hip (as the kids say) by going as viral video star the honey badger.
Sure putting together a costume of such a fearsome sounding creature sounds like you’ll be sitting at a sewing machine all night trying to un-sew the sleeve of your shirt out of your costume, but it’s actually one of the simpler clever costumes you can put together for 2011. Everyone thinks their neighborhood is the best for trick-or-treating. But the folks at real estate site Zillow have actually compiled a list of the best cities for scoring some ‘tricks or treats’ this Halloween.
In creating its third annual Trick-or-Treat Index, Zillow considered factors such as median home values, crime rates, population density and overall “walkability” when choosing the 20 best urban areas in which to gather candy on October 31.

If Google’s recent list of the most-searched Halloween costumes is any indication, we’ll be seeing lots and lots of Angry Birds roaming the streets for candy this year. Not to pat ourselves on the back, but we predicted these costumes would be popular.
They are called catapults, trebuchets or cannons. They used to be instruments of war, but today they are operated by kids and adults alike and they are used for tossing pumpkins as far as humanly possible. Kids that compete in this annual event have been known to toss a pumpkin from 800-plus feet last year to almost half a mile this year. They make their contraptions out of anything they can find one trebuchet that’s all aluminum, uses about 20 garage door springs and they use an aluminum boat mast as the arm of the trebuchet. These kids are the future engineers and the future looks bright.
