Get Ready for a New Spin on Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Movies

It’s happened to all of us. You’re watching the movie, and you’re into it, and then... a character makes a catastrophic mistake. They run upstairs when they should go out the front door. They bring the Transformer back to life rather than leaving it in a dump where they found it. They break quarantine when they’ve been screaming for the last 20 minutes how now matter what happens, they can’t let the virus escape. And you sit there, squirming in your seat, because there’s nothing you can do about it.

Spider-Man Hits the Bodega in His Latest Teaser

Spider-Man’s a true New Yorker: he understands when to take the 6 train versus rolling the dice on the 2nd Avenue subway, he knows where to get the Bronx’s best chopped cheese, and when he needs a snack in a pinch, he hits up his friendly neighborhood bodega. In the latest promotional spot for the umpteenth reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming, the web-head is late to a big NBA Finals watching party at Tony Stark’s place. (The commercial was written to air specifically during the basketball playoffs this year.) But when he ducks into a nearby bodega — for those uninitiated, it’s really just a corner convenience store, but immeasurably better in every way — he has a chance encounter.

‘Landline’ Trailer: Jenny Slate Is Very, Totally Good in This ‘Obvious Child’ Follow-Up

First things first: How did it take this long for someone to cast John Turturro as Jenny Slate’s dad?! Now that we’ve gotten that important business out of the way, let’s discuss the first trailer for Landline, which looks insanely good. Slate reunites with Obvious Child filmmaker Gillian Robespierre — and really, you don’t need much more of a sales pitch than that, but the trailer is still worth a watch (or two, or three…I may have a problem).

Watch Harvard Honor John Williams With an Acapella Medley of His Music

Look, I’m a pretty simple guy. I don’t ask for a lot out of life. Life doesn’t ask for a lot out of me. But I do have one very small goal, and that’s to eventually do something well enough that a bunch of colleges around the United States decide to praise me with honorary doctorate degrees. A pretty modest aim, right? One pithy news article about Star Wars rumors, and suddenly, the University of Southern California and UCLA are competing to see who can give me the most pieces of paper with my name on it. In the immortal words of Cannibal! The Musical, that’s all I’m asking for.

Acclaimed Documentary ‘King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters’ Is Getting a Musical Adaptation

While I’m sure Broadway purists probably turn their nose up at the musical adaptations of Hollywood films, I have to admit, I’ve always enjoyed seeing some of my favorite films get the musical treatment. Right this very moment, you can fly to New York City and catch a diverse group of stage adaptations like Groundhog Day, Kinky Boots, Waitress, Amelie, School of Rock, and A Bronx Tale, not to mention the predictable number of classic Disney animated movies. So the news that another movie adaptation is getting the musical treatment is not at all surprising, even if its source material is a little less traditional than most.
