Roger Creager Shows His ‘Relaxed Fit’ Side With His New Single ‘For You I Do’ – Song Review

Roger Creager may still be better known for his live shows, partying image and unmatched sense of humor and adventure than a studio musician, but that appears to be changing with every song he offers to radio. Creager has a more heartfelt, easy-going part to his personality, and he shows that side off with his new single, 'For You I Do'.

Weston Burt, ‘Lucky Sometimes’ – Song Review

Newcomer Weston Burt's debut single 'Lucky Sometimes' aims right down the middle and hits the mark. The upbeat, head-over-heels love song is easy to find yourself singing along with before the first spin is complete. Listen again to hear him flex a little vocal muscle in the most subtle ways.

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Review

I stand before you, humbled, and tasked with explaining, in comprehensible terms, just what the heck 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' is all about. Attaining comprehensibility, however, is a chore the filmmakers didn't wrestle with, doubling-down on pure adrenaline and big movie star charisma. It's a risky move and sometimes it works. Sadly, this is not one of those cases.

While there are chuckles to be had (I mean, that Cobra Commander helmet is just too incredible to dismiss) there isn't enough whiz-bang in this film to fully deflect the utter lack of a story or absence of intriguing characters. It is, surprisingly, the lesser of the two 'G.I. Joe' films, with Stephen Sommers' 2009 'The Rise of Cobra' featuring much more team spirit, pep and fun.

‘Tyler Perry’s Temptation’ Review

Genius or madman, auteur or amateur, Tyler Perry is a fascinating artist. And while it shouldn’t earn him either new fans or detractors, 'Temptation' is his most polished showcase to date of the bizarre and utterly irresistible divide between his razor-sharp creativity and decidedly duller technical precision. The story of a bored therapist who gets involved with one of her clients, Perry’s film wields melodrama like a hatchet, wringing moralistic justice from a story that’s remarkably more complex than it’s being sold – and, in fact, than Perry probably realizes.

‘The Host’ Review

Cartesian Dualism lights up the screen in 'The Host' as Saoirse Ronan's alien-possessed soul loudly thinks, "don't you smile at him! Uch! You are not goin' there!" Then she leans to smooch #TeamIan. And who said there was nothing deep happening in mainstream cinema?

Maggie Rose, ‘Cut to Impress’ – Album Review

'Cut to Impress' by Maggie Rose is one of the more entertaining listens of the year. Fans will either embrace the dark, swampy sound the singer creates with producer James Stroud, or they'll be terrified by her bad girl persona and downright chilling stories. The album is no teddy bear.

Blake Shelton, ‘Boys ‘Round Here’ – ToC Critic’s Pick [Listen]

There is comedy in Blake Shelton singing with Pistol Annies, as he does on his new single 'Boys 'Round Here.' One imagines a country Hugh Hefner surrounded by his beauties. In real life, the Annies likely (very likely) don't attend to his every need and agree with him at all costs, but they do on this song, and it's absolutely charming.

Thompson Square, ‘Just Feels Good’ – Album Review

The best songs on Thompson Square's new album 'Just Feels Good' sound like a conversation between the two married lovers. Early on, their back-and-forth is light and playful. Later ballads take a more somber tone, but all that find the 'If I Didn't Have You' singers sharing lead are highlights from the duo's sophomore project.

Album Spotlight: Blake Shelton, ‘Based on a True Story …’ – ToC Critic’s Pick

Women who already think Blake Shelton singing is the sexiest thing since Johnny Castle pulled Baby from the corner may want to take the rest of the week off. The best moments on 'Based on a True Story ...' sizzle, and not in that ironic "bow-chicka-wow-wow" sort of way that's occasionally implied with this singer's sense of humor. Songs like 'Mine Would Be You' are safe to put on any red wine and candles soundtrack. Guys, you can thank Shelton via his Twitter account, if you'd like.

Mark Cooke Releases Video for His New Song “Stay With Me Tonight” – Review

Mark Cooke released the video for his new "Stay With Me Tonight" single. While the song deals with the issue of two lonely, recently divorced people, the video does a lot to follow the storyline of the song. The fact that his costar is hot doesn't hurt things either. Although Mark continually asks "Stay With Me Tonight" and starts to sound like another typical 'one night stand' kind of song, this one turns the corner nicely into, two people just enjoying being with one another.

James Wesley, ‘Thank a Farmer’ – Song Review

James Wesley has a real feel for the life and struggles of the blue-collar American. His new song 'Thank a Farmer' is similar to his previous Top 30 hit 'Real' in its honest, no-nonsense approach. The worst thing a singer can do with a song like either of these is come off as contrived. Wesley is a long way away from being accused of that.

Tyler Farr Releases His New Song ‘Redneck Crazy’ with More Politically Correct Alternate Lyrics

Tyler Farr just released his new single 'Redneck Crazy' and then had to make an adjustment to the lyrics because the original has a lyric that is a little too offensive for radio. While some words are allowed in today's radio world, there are other words that have no business being on the radio. I believe that the late comedian George Carlin did a stand up routine on the seven dirty words not allowed to be said on the radio, and Tyler Farr used one of those words. Thus the politically correct alternate lyric version.
