'The Walking Dead' season 4 was one of the few TV series to land on the buzzing Hall H stage at Comic-Con 2013, and, as with year's prior, the fans didn't fail to turn out.

The hit AMC zombie-drama previously announced appearances by Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Danai Gurira (Michonne), David Morrissey (The Governor), Chad Coleman (Tyreese) and Scott Wilson (Hershel), along with executive producers Gale Anne Hurd, Robert Kirkman, David Alpert and executive producer/special effects and makeup guru Greg Nicotero.

This is the one that many have been waiting for, and it did not disappoint. Executive producer and showrunner Scott Gimple, Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd and Grey Nicotero first came out to hype up the audience with phrases like, “It’s going to get insane very quickly,” and, “We want to bring the best season ever for the fans.”

The definite highlight, however, was the premiere of the first footage from ‘The Walking Dead’ season 4, which came in the form of an extended trailer! So much was discussed, teased and revealed during the panel and through the footage, so here’s everything we learned from ‘The Walking Dead’ Comic-Con 2013 panel about season 4:

- The Governor is still out there, but perhaps he’ll appear in a way you weren’t expecting. “How he returns, when he returns is going to be a mystery this season,” said Morrisey. As he recollects, the world was telling him how in control and what a good job he was doing until one episode. Now all this negative reinforcement will definitely effect him.

- “Things are definitely gonna be way crazier” in season 4, says Kirkman. “There’s more terrible things happening. It’s gonna keep progressing if you can believe it.“-

‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 trailer: [SPOILERS AHEAD] The newly enlarged group faces new dangers as they adapt to all these people within the prison. Each member of the community seems to have a different role in keeping the ship afloat, but soon walkers make their way into the prison, killing 12 and potentially injuring more. Soon the group finds out someone let them in, which seems to be one of the mysteries in season 4.  One thing that was crystal clear in the trailer was that the walkers are a far greater threat than in season 3, and in terms of exactly which characters might bite the dust.

- MORE SPOILERS – a couple of scenes tease the potentially future demise of Tyreese (he alone battles a swarm of walkers coming at in on all sides). By the end of the trailer, the audience was posed with the question,“Will the group leave the prison?” with Hershel even suggesting, “Perhaps we’re safer outside those walls.”

- This season will answer why the group stayed in the prison.

- The relationship to Carl is integral for Rick in the beginning of this season. “You find Rick in a completely new place at the beginning of this season,” said Lincoln. “He’s renounced quite of a lot of responsibilities for the sake of his children.”

- The physical portion of acting doesn’t get easier for Gurira. “I’d never ridden a horse before …”

- “Tyreese is still trying to find out how he fits in. What are the rules of engagement for him?” said Coleman. “I sense that he really needs a strong reasoning behind why he does what he does,” but the world doesn’t work that way.

- On the Governor, Morrissey said, “He feels like [his people] betrayed him” at the end of last season. “Something happened to him, something switched … What is it in him that makes that switch go down and he has to deal with that.”

- “Nobody is the same as they were in the first season,” said Reedus of his character. “These relationships he has with these people is the glue that keeps him there. … He’s definitely grown up a ton.”

- If it’s not zombies, the group will have to deal with each other. “When we meet them all in season 4 there’s a whole new community in the prison and an incredible friction and tension,” said Lincoln.

- Some teaser words from Gurira: “Expect the unexpected and you’ll never really get comfortable.”

- Carl’s voice is about an octave lower than where we left him, due to the actor’s “beast”-like growing up, as Lincoln put it.

- And most importantly, how would Reedus, in real life, react to the zombie apocalypse? “I’d take over a hotel, spray paint myself silver, run around naked and watch ‘South Park.’”

‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 premieres this October, so stay tuned for the latest news. And be sure to check out the extended trailer.
