Dallas Cowboys Fans Petition the White House for the Removal of Jerry Jones
There seems to be a petition fad going on lately, especially in Texas. Just weeks after joining other states in petitioning the White House to secede from the United States, Texas is at it again. This time, a petition is going around calling for the removal of Dallas Cowboys owner and GM, Jerry Jones.
First of all, anybody can start a petition on the official White House site. In fact, Frank Pain recently wrote a blog on petitions that he would like to propose to the United States government.
Well now, a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan is using the site to his advantage. Steven 'M', from Georgia, started a petition to remove Cowboys owner and GM, Jerry Jones.
We, the Citizens of the Great State of Texas, and Dallas Cowboys fans worldwide, have been oppressed by an over controlling, delusional, oppressive dictator for way too long. Request the Executive Branch’s immediate assistance in removal of owner and GM, Jerry Jones. His incompetence and ego have not only been an extreme disappointment for way too long, but moreover, it has caused extreme mental and emotional duress."
To date, the petition has 1,093 signatures, but for it to be considered by the White House, it needs to have at least 25,000 signatures, so the dude has a ways to go.
As a die hard Cowboys fan myself, I have dreamed of the day that Jerry Jones either gives up control or sells the team to someone else. Yeah, I'm still ticked off of the way they handled Tom Landry's firing.
Yes, the 3 Super Bowls in the 90's were awesome, but Jerry didn't build those teams - Jimmy Johnson did. The Cowboys have not been the same since then and year after year myself and other Cowboys fans across the nation, find ourselves in a sea of disappointment.
One thing I can personally give Jerry props for, is the marketing he does for the Cowboys. Hands down, probably the best in the business when it comes to that. But, as far as football knowledge and picking players in the draft, the dude is not right. So, I can definitely understand and appreciate this petition. Will it ever work? I highly doubt it, but anything is possible.
So, do you plan on signing the petition or do you think it's just another ridiculous petition out there. Sound off in the comments section below.
