Dan + Shay added a stripped-down version of their latest single, "Tequila," at the 2018 ACM Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night (April 15).

The duo played the single acoustically with a choir behind them that included fresh-faced bubbly country star Cam, who unassumingly sang along in the background. Lead singer Shay Mooney impressively belted vocal runs throughout the song, ending with a line that gained extra cheers from the audience.

"Tequila" is the first new music the duo has released since their 2016 album Obsessed; it combines vivid imagery over a message of lost love.

"But when I taste tequila, baby I still see ya / Cutting up the floor in a sorority T-Shirt / The same one you wore when we were / Sky high in Colorado, your lips pressed against the bottle / Swearing on a Bible, baby, I'd never leave ya / I remember how bad I need ya, when I taste tequila / When I taste tequila."

As a fun side bit, Dan + Shay recently launched a device on their website that allows fans to mix their own version of "Tequila," with the ability to change volume levels and take parts of music out as if they were in a (very, very simplified) studio.

Dan + Shay were also nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year against Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line, LoCash and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Brothers Osborne took home that award.
