It's festival season, and newcomer Devin Dawson is about to get more than a taste of what that means, starting with the 2018 Taste of Country Music Festival this week.

"I'm excited," he tells Taste of Country Nights' Sam Alex of performing at the sixth annual-festival in New York. "It's going to be sweet. The lineup is stacked, it's incredible."

Performing alongside Dawson are a handful of the genre's biggest names: Sam Hunt, Florida Georgia LineEric Church and LeAnn Rimes, along with fellow burgeoning stars Ashley McBryde, Jimmie Allen and Kane Brown. Dawson says FGL, Allen and Brown are artists he's really looking forward to seeing.

"I feel like festivals are like summer camp, where we're finally all in the same place as far as the artists. We're all friends," he explains. "I feel like we use these events to really catch up and hang and be inspired, and maybe write a song, or just go have fun."

This is the Taste of Country RISER's first summer hitting the festival circuit. His chart-topping debut single "All on Me" has allowed him to break through and perform alongside artists he's been admiring for years. He'll use his time in front of such massive festival audiences wisely, and will continue to share who he is as both an artist and person.

"I'm still a new artist, I'm still sharing my story and letting people in on who I am," he says. "It's going to be a really cool experience to get to take that in and figure out what it's like to play in front of and behind all these insane acts that I've been looking up to for years."

Dawson hits the ToC Fest stage on Friday afternoon (June 8).
