Seattle 30 – St. Louis 13

Rookie Doug Baldwin blocked a punt and caught a touchdown pass, and the Seattle Seahawks beat the St. Louis Rams 30-13 on “Monday Night Football.” Seattle (6-7) remains alive in the race for an NFC wild-card playoff spot as a result of the victory.

Baldwin blocked Donnie Jones’ first punt of the game, which Seattle’s Michael Robinson returned 17 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. The offensively inept Rams never came closer than seven points of the lead after the opening period. The Seattle offense didn’t cross the goal line until Tarvaris Jackson threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Baldwin with six seconds left in the third quarter, giving the Seahawks a 20-6 lead. Baldwin led Seattle with seven receptions for 93 yards on the game.

St. Louis (2-11) finally got into the end zone when Steven Jackson scored on a 1-yard plunge with 4:39 to play and the Rams trailing 23-6. Jackson’s dive came on St. Louis’ sixth consecutive play from the Seahawks’ 1-yard line. The drive was extended when Seattle’s Richard Sherman was flagged for taunting a St. Louis receiver after an incompletion on 3rd down. Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch carried on four of the five plays on the following offensive series, including a 16-yard touchdown run that sealed the win for Seattle.

Lynch finished with 115 yards on 23 carries for the Seahawks, while Jackson completed 21 of 32 passes for 224 yards. Rams’ quarterback Sam Bradford completed just 12 of 29 passes for 193 yards and an interception. Jackson carried 20 times for 63 yards for St. Louis, while Brandon Lloyd paced them with five catches for 82 yards.
