Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver are preparing to release a new album, and in advance of its debut, they're sharing one of its songs with The Boot's readers. Press play below to hear "Life to My Days," the first song from Lawson & Quicksilver's new album to be released to radio.

Written by Jerry Salley, Lee Black and Devin McGlamery, "Life to My Days" finds its protagonist promising to give more of himself each day instead of focusing on life's limitations: "I can’t add more days to my life / So I’ll add more life to my days ..."

"Jerry Salley has been one of my favorite singers, songwriters and [a] dear friend for many years. I reached out to him, and this is one that certainly hit home for me," Lawson says. "The lyric 'I can't add more days to my life, so I'll add more life to my days' says it perfectly for me."

Adds Salley, "As soon as we finished this song, my first thought was about how my friend, Doyle, is always moving ahead, never slowing down, adding ‘life’ to every single day. He was the first artist to hear the song, and he loved it.

"As writers, we couldn’t have asked for a better interpretation of the song,” Salley adds. “It almost sounds like it was written for [band member] Eli [Johnston]'s voice … he sings it perfectly.”

In addition to Lawson and Johnston, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver are also made up of Josh Swift, Joe Dean, Dustin Pyrtle and Stephen Burwell. The group received Grammy Awards nods in 2016 and 2017, for their two most recent albums, and Lawson himself is a Bluegrass Hall of Fame member and a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Fellowship.

Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver's forthcoming album, Life is a Story, is due out on Aug. 25 and available for pre-order now. Visit DoyleLawson.com for more information.
