Additional Information

They’re back, it’s time again for the annual youth varmint hunts to benefit the Texas Outdoor C.H.I.L.D. a non-profit organization that provides hunting, fishing and outdoor adventures to children that suffer from terminal illnesses and/or life altering medical conditions. The first in a series of hunts is scheduled for February, 16th and 17th. Any child that is from the Lone Star State can register to participate in the weekend long hunt.

The kids will be broken up into three different age divisions and may be bumped up depending on the child’s skill level. The varmints to hunt for are bobcat, coyote, fox, raccoon, ring-tails, rabbits, opossums, hogs and other critters. Last year I seem to recall there were several kids that took advantage of harvesting skunks. If that happens this year, event organizer Steve Freeman says “please park on the outside of the fence and leave the stinky critter in your own vehicle for further inspection by the judges.” The point system varies from five points for bobcat to one point for lesser hogs and critters. Contact the event organizer Steve Freeman for information and the form for registration.
