Father's Day is on the way, and I could think of no better way to honor dads than by letting them know we've been listening to them all these years. Especially when it comes to "dad-isms".

A "dad-ism" is a quote made famous by dads. Not any one particular dad, but the whole lot of them. These are phrases that have stood the test of time, been taken seriously by children and joked about when they become adults. Pretty much every dad has a handful of dad-isms in their verbal arsenal. Dad always had those sayings and quotes that contained a hidden message or pushed you to succeed at a difficult task, or just had you scratching your head, wondering "what in the world is he talking about?".

I went through the office to gather a few favorite dad-isms from my coworkers. Here's what I've come up with:

"Get out of my face, before I change my mind".

"Shut the door! Were you born in a barn?"

"Go ask your mother."

"Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about."

"Eat it. It'll put hair on your chest".

"This is why we can't have nice things!".

That's only a few. A mere drop in the bucket in the hundreds - even thousands - of dad-isms out there. What's your favorite? Please share in the comment section below.
