George Strait proved once again that he is still the King of Country, by selling out the Alamodome in San Antonio in less than six minutes. 72,000 tickets in under six minutes is a record for George Strait and most definitely a record for the Alamodome too. It just happened that Sir George was in the Alamo City for his 31st Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic, did that have something to do with the fastest and largest sell-out ever? Not according to event organizers, whom speculated that the June 1st concert being one of his last performances may be a bigger contributing factor.

The Cowboy Rides Away Tour has been selling out and setting all kinds of tour records for Strait. When George plays his final June 1st concert, it will mark his eighth performance at the Alamodome since he opened the facility that is all to often called “The house San Antonio built for George.”

Last week, Strait’s 'Cowboy Rides Away Tour' was #1 on Pollstar’s Concert Pulse list, averaging 1.4 million dollars gross sales per show, beating out Justin Bieber, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, the Dave Matthews Band, and The Who to round out the top five on Pollstar's list. The Cowboy Rides Away Tour continues next weekend at Reliant Stadium in Houston, where over 77,000 adoring fans are expected to be in attendance.
