‘Go Purple’ With World Cancer Day, Tuesday, February 4th
Today is World Cancer Day which means to deck yourself out in purple to show your support. Cancer is a growing epidemic, in my opinion. It seems everyone I know is being affected by the disease in some form or another; myself included.
As most of you know I was diagnosed with breast cancer, two years ago this month. World Cancer Day has a goal of dispelling myths and reducing the stigma associated with the disease. There are many myths about cancer. Such as you don’t need to talk about it, you can’t get proper care, there are no symptoms and there’s nothing you can do about it. All of those are wrong. If caught early, you CAN do a lot and you do have rights to medical care. Please contact the American Cancer Society for more information.
It’s scary to hear the diagnosis, but it’s heavenly to hear the words ‘cancer free’ also. Get it early and beat it!! Today you are encouraged to ‘go purple’ in support of World Cancer Day. This is for all cancers not just one in particular. Be sure to purple out your profile pics on social media too (#PurpleYourProfile). By doing this, Chevrolet will donate $1 to the American Cancer Society, up to $1 million to help fight cancer. Wear purple and spread the word….you can survive!
