The annual 'Healthy Kids Day' is coming back to the Redbud YMCA Saturday, April 27th, doors will opening at 9am. This all day free family event includes a 1-mile family fun run, bike or walk through the park. Plus swimming, gymnastic, tumbling and karate demonstrations, a bike safety course, kids health screenings, door prizes, and more. This is open to the public and no membership is required, the Y’s committed to addressing critical health and education issues facing Abilene's youth.

A few years ago at this very event, I discovered that my daughter Angie couldn't swim all that good. I knew then, the best way for me to save my daughters life around water was to get her into swim lessons. She needed to learn how to swim good enough to save her own life (let alone mine.) Today I no longer worry about her being around water because she swims like a fish. The swimming demonstrations and evaluations will help you determine how well you child can swim.

Dawn Revoir the YMCA's Membership Director says "the Healthy Kids Day event is intended to teach kids and parents the importance of keeping the mind and body active during summer vacation. We want to start all kids out on the right path to fitness."

The doors at the YMCA will open at 9:00am with scheduled events to follow throughout the day. Check out the schedule below.
