High School Wrestler Gets Hit By Falling Light During Match and Survives
Freak accidents are a part of the sports world and one high school wrestler from South Dakota should count his lucky stars (the ones circling above his head like in a cartoon) that he wasn’t more seriously injured when a light fixture fell on him during a match.
Michael McCormish, a wrestler from Madison High School was facing off against a rival from Chamberlain High School during the high school’s “Madison Square Garden” night. As the referee reset the match after the wrestlers left the circle, McCormish went to the middle of the ring, when suddenly a prop light being used came falling down from the rafters and hit him right in the head.
McCormish was rushed to the hospital but only needed a couple of stitches on a cut on his head and will wrestle again this season.
