Pitbull is currently promoting a product called Energy Sheets. As part of his role as spokesman, he’s promised that he’ll go to the Wal-Mart with the most likes on Facebook.

That currently is a Wal-Mart in Kodiak, an island in Alaska, and one of the remotest civilized areas in the entire United States.

How, precisely, did an island only accessible by ferry or aircraft become one of the leaders in a shameless Facebook marketing stunt?

It’s all part of a hilarious Twitter scheme under the hashtag #ExilePitbull. It’s less about picking on the hip-hop artist and more sending up the crassness of the stunt itself. Really, if you think about it, the Internet is doing Pitbull a favor; he’ll be able to visit a place of great natural beauty that most of us rarely get to see, on somebody else’s dime. And, hey, it’ll be the biggest thing to happen to Kodiak in a long while.

The Kodiak Wal-Mart, meanwhile, is somewhat befuddled by all the attention. It currently has more likes that the population of the entire island and is well on its way to being the most liked Wal-Mart on Facebook. They’ve yet to speak to the press.
