Each year, Music City extends a call to amateur hopefuls, conducting a worldwide search for the best original song. This year, actress-turned country singer Jana Kramer plays a big role in the Music City Songwriting Competition.

The singer will act as ambassador for the seventh-annual event, and she'll also give a personal mentoring session to the lucky winner.

The competition is really a win for everybody -- even those who don't nab the grand prize -- because they'll still receive a copy of Kramer's self-titled record. But the top songwriter will really win big, which is all the more incentive for Music City's next shining songwriter.

Not only will the winner receive a mentoring session with the 'Why Ya Wanna' singer, but he or she will also be flown to Nashville for a five night trip, including a TV interview, time with a professional songwriter for a Q&A, the opportunity for a single song publishing deal, have their winning song highlighted on Music City Radio ... oh, and $1,000!

Kramer will be using some of her own songwriting wisdom in the coming months as she works on her upcoming album. More details on the songwriting competition are available here, along with a complete list of prizes.
