Jason Aldean is teaming up with some big names to help Major League Baseball pick the 2014 Honorary Bat Girls to raise awareness for breast cancer. The annual ”Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer” initiative helps recognize those baseball fans who have been affected by the disease — and are dedicated to helping spread awareness.

Aldean will join three big MLB names and Sam Ryan, a MLB Network host and reporter, in picking the winner for each ball club. He’ll be joined by Freddie Freeman, of the Atlanta Braves, Evan Langoria, of the Tampa Bay Rays and Pablo Sandoval, of the San Francisco Giants.

The candidates were asked to tell their story about how breast cancer affected them and why they want to represent their favorite baseball team. Fans are able to vote for the winners at the Honorary Bat Girl website through April 14. There will be one winner per ballpark who will take part in activities before the game, be honored on the field during the game and receive some pink breast cancer merchandise along with their tickets to the game. This all takes place as part of MLB’s Mother’s Day celebrations.

“The Honorary Bat Girl nominees exhibit tremendous courage in the face of cancer and it is a great privilege to use the combined power of Major League Baseball, its clubs and players, Stand Up 2 Cancer and Susan G. Komen For the Cure to recognize them across the league on Mother’s Day,” Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig says.

Aldean was selected as one of the judges because of his breast cancer story — he lost a close family friend to the disease and has since done great work wht Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
