Let’s face it: If you’re going to put Jason Momoa in the wilderness, furs are going to be worn, and people are going to get hurt. So it is, with the first official trailer for Momoa’s fur-trapping Netflix series Frontier, ahead of a January 20 premiere.

The 18th century series is already renewed for Season 2 (having technically already premiered in November), while the Netflix version will arrive on January 20. Frontier is directed by San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton, and created by Rob and Peter Blackie. Chronicling the chaotic and violent struggle of wealth and power in the North American fur trade, the logline for Netflix’s Frontier reads:

The drama is told from multiple perspectives and set in a world where business negotiations are frequently resolved with hatchet fights. Frontier will also explore the delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans that can spark bloody conflicts.

Momoa takes the lead role of Declan Harp, described as “an ambitious, confident, charismatic and untamed man with a reputation for being a ruthless trader, driven by lust and revenge.” The series also stars Braveheart star Alun Armstrong, Hemlock Grove alum Landon Liboiron, Downton Abbey resident Zoe Boyle, as well as Allan Hawco, Shawn Doyle and Canadian newcomer Jessica Matten.

You can check out the first photos, and stay tuned for the full Frontier premiere on January 20.
