Justin Moore Stands by His Ashton Kutcher Rant, Calls Appearance ‘Distasteful’

This week, country stars Justin Moore and Miranda Lambert tweeted their disapproval for Ashton Kutcher’s dress and performance at last weekend’s ACM Awards. And while Lambert primarily mentioned that she thought Kutcher may have been poking fun rather than coming at the country genre in sincerity, Moore was quite a bit more candid with his thoughts, ending with, “I don’t care for people making a mockery of the way country artists’ dress.”

Though Kutcher is known for being a funny guy and no one can quite make a definitive call on his actual intentions, the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star tweeted a response, assuring the country music world, ”I Am One Of The biggest country Music fans you’ve ever met. Wasn’t making fun at all.” He also took the time to tag Lambert in a tweet congratulating her on her recent ACM wins, saying “@Miranda Lambert btw congratulations again.”

In a recent interview with FOX News, Moore stood by his original assertion of Kutcher’s mockery, though he concedes that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.“That’s the great thing about this country,” he said. “I put my opinion out there and some people agree with it, some people don’t, and that’s fine.” Still, Moore holds that Kutcher’s over-the-top old cowboy garb and his rendition of George Strait‘s ‘I Cross Your Heart’ were too much.

“I found it distasteful as a country music artist and somebody who grew up the way that I did loving country music and trying to uphold the tradition of country music the way a lot of artists do,” he said. Moore added that he was glad to see that Lambert had posted something on the topic as well, since he didn’t know if he was alone in his opinion.

“I haven’t talked to Miranda about it, but I was happy to see I wasn’t the only one,” he explained. “I thought for a minute, maybe I’m out of line here but it was good to know that I wasn’t the only one that kind of found it to be a little off color and I’ve had people that I’m buddies with in the industry text me and things like that, that said they agree as well so like I said we’re entitled to have our own opinion. I’m sure his fans have their opinion and that’s great.” Even so, Moore said he’s not looking for an apology or anything, adding that Kutcher likely doesn’t know who he is.

“Like I said he may be a country music fan, if he is I’d love to have him out at a show, he’s more than welcome to come out, we can discuss it,” he said. “If he’s as big a country music fan as he says he is then maybe he’ll do that.”

Tell us what you thought of Kutcher’s appearance at the ACMs. Was the star sincere and should he be forgiven for what may have been a totally unintentional move, or do you think he was trying to make a mockery of the genre?
