When 12-year-old Kadie Lynn opens her mouth to sing, your jaw will soon be on the floor. The young girl recently tried out for America’s Got Talent and showed off her big voice with Merle Haggard’s “Twinkle, Twinkle, Lucky Star,” a tune originally released in 1987, years before Lynn was born.

Lynn clearly has an appreciation for classic country, though, as she brought an old-school twang and raspy warmth to the song, reminiscent of singers decades her senior. The budding artist walked confidently onstage, wearing cowboy boots and carrying her acoustic guitar, then accompanied herself on the song, wowing the judges from the first note.

The crowd loved her and gave her a standing ovation midway through the song, the cheers only escalating by the time she reached her final impressive note.

Lynn has been making music since she was tiny, and according to her website has even played for the Prime Minister of the Bahamas and opened for, oddly enough, Vanilla Ice. She recently put out a music video for a song titled “Stronger,” and we have to say, she’s well on her way to becoming a rising star in country. Check out her full audition for America’s Got Talent above.

“Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Star,” co-written by Haggard and Freddy Powers, was released as the first single from Haggard’s album Chill Factor, and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
